This role is expected to be a full-time role but can be adjusted based on the qualified candidate’s desire. We expect to hire for the position immediately.
Description
We’re seeking a Senior Director of Sales and Business Development to build and personally run Trellist’s outbound growth engine — from sales strategy and channel activation through full sales execution and closed revenue.
Trellist is executing an aggressive growth strategy built on marketing and technology solutions, advanced AI-driven platforms, and venture products. As we scale rapidly with our evolved vision, this role will be critical to our success.
This is a high-impact, hands-on opportunity for a strategic sales leader who can both architect a modern, multi-channel outbound motion and personally carry it through the full sales cycle — engaging decision-makers who range from the C-suite down to the directors and senior managers who, in practice, often drive or gate enterprise buying decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and drive Trellist’s outbound sales strategy — identifying and activating the channels (target account and contact-level prospecting, email, LinkedIn, and phone) needed to build consistent, qualified pipeline.
- Partner closely with the marketing team to coordinate outbound activity with inbound demand generation, so outbound and inbound function as one coherent go-to-market motion rather than two disconnected efforts.
- Own full sales execution on warm leads and opportunities: pre-qualify the lead, then run consultative conversations that qualify Trellist’s fit against the prospect’s needs — across stakeholders from the C-suite to directors and senior managers.
- Package and personally deliver tailored, prospect-specific presentations that align Trellist’s services, solutions, and case studies to each opportunity’s pain points.
- Drive the sales process through proposal development and negotiation to signed close, owning the pipeline end-to-end.
- Build and continuously refine target account and contact lists using our sales and marketing technology stack, and run automated, multi-touch outbound sequences against them.
Ideal candidate
You’re a senior sales and business development leader who has sold marketing programs, technology platforms and professional services — you know these require different conversations, and you’re fluent in both. You’ve built outbound motions from scratch and personally closed deals with executives, directors, and senior managers alike, adjusting your approach to whoever actually controls the budget. You understand modern, technology-enabled, closed-loop marketing and sales practices — not just the platform names underneath them — and you know how to make a MarTech stack serve a coherent buyer journey rather than function as disconnected tools.
Candidate requirements
- 7+ years in enterprise business development / sales leadership, with a track record spanning both platform or technology sales and professional-services or consultative solution sales.
- Extensive experience selling to regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare and pharmaceuticals with the knowledge to navigate complex procurement processes.
- Deep, hands-on proficiency with modern sales and marketing technology — specifically HubSpot, Apollo, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator — including building target audiences at the account and contact level and running automated outbound sequences.
- Fluency in sales-led, marketing-supported outbound strategies and tactics, and a working understanding of modern closed-loop marketing practices that leverage the martech stack.
- Demonstrated experience selling to and closing with stakeholders across the buying committee — C-suite, directors, and senior managers — not solely C-level.
- Proven ability to independently create sales content — tailored presentations, proposals, and sequence copy — drawing on case studies and solution knowledge without support from other teams.
- Demonstrated track record closing six- and seven-figure deals involving both platform/product and services components.
- Ability to hit the ground running with no formal ramp-up or training period — prior experience must transfer directly to Trellist’s business and sales motion from day one.
What sets you apart
- You command the room in new-business pitches, building tailored, story-driven presentations yourself rather than relying on a supporting team.
- You’ve operated as a full-cycle seller — prospecting, qualifying, presenting, proposing, and closing — not just a closer handed warm opportunities.
- You understand how martech and modern marketing practices drive business transformation, not just operational efficiency, and you can sell that story to both platform buyers and services buyers.
- You’ve built a career on relationships across every level of the buying committee, not only the C-suite.
- You thrive operating independently, without a ramp-up period or internal sales enablement to lean on.
Success metrics
Revenue impact through closed deals (platform and services), volume and quality of pipeline self-generated through outbound, and the effectiveness of your coordination with marketing on inbound conversion.
