ADA / Web Accessibility
ADA and web accessibility compliance means building and maintaining digital experiences that meet WCAG standards, at the A, AA, or AAA conformance level, verified through real assistive technology testing, not an automated overlay. Trellist provides accessibility audits, remediation, and ongoing monitoring for organizations that need to manage real legal exposure, not just check a box.
What we do
WCAG Conformance Audits
Comprehensive audits benchmarked to WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 at the A, AA, or AAA level, matched to your actual legal and regulatory requirement.
Tools we work with
axe DevTools for automated rule checks against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2
WAVE for page-level review of contrast, structure, and labels
Lighthouse for baseline accessibility scores across your templates
Manual Testing with Assistive Technology
Real testing with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and emulators, not an automated scan alone.
Tools we work with
NVDA for screen reader testing on Windows
Apple VoiceOver for screen reader testing on macOS and iOS
Android TalkBack for screen reader testing on Android
Remediation & Development
Fixing the underlying code-level issues audits identify, not layering a widget on top of them.
Tools we work with
Adobe Experience Manager for accessible custom components and templates
Storybook for component-level accessibility checks before release
Accessibility Statement & Documentation
Building the documentation that supports a good-faith compliance record if litigation occurs.
Ongoing Monitoring & Maintenance
Continuous testing as your site changes, so accessibility doesn’t quietly regress after the initial fix.
Tools we work with
Siteimprove for scheduled site-wide accessibility scans
Lighthouse for accessibility checks in the release pipeline

Our approach
We start with a full WCAG conformance audit using real assistive technology, not just an automated scanner. From there we remediate the underlying issues at the code level, document the work to support a good-faith compliance record, and move into ongoing monitoring so new pages and features don’t reintroduce the same problems.
Signs you need this
- Your site uses an accessibility overlay or widget, and you’re not entirely sure that actually protects you.
- You’ve never had a full WCAG audit performed with real assistive technology, only an automated scan.
- New pages and features go live without a documented accessibility review.
- You’ve received a demand letter, or you’re aware competitors in your industry have.
What you’ll gain
- A documented, defensible compliance record based on real remediation, not a widget.
- Reduced legal exposure as accessibility lawsuit volume continues to climb.
- Accessibility that holds up as your site evolves, not just at a single point in time.
- Confidence your site works for users on assistive technology, not just automated test tools.
How it compares
Trellist remediates at the code level and tests with real assistive technology, then stays engaged through ongoing monitoring. That’s different from an accessibility overlay or widget, which the evidence (including a $1 million FTC fine against one overlay provider for misrepresenting compliance) shows does not reliably prevent lawsuits, and different from a one-time audit, which only reflects your site’s compliance on the day it was run; every page or feature published after that is unverified.
Why it matters
Web accessibility lawsuit filings hit an estimated 5,000+ in 2025 and are on pace to exceed 6,000 in 2026, the highest volume on record. Nearly half of 2025’s federal filings, about 45%, targeted companies that had already been sued before, which is exactly the pattern ongoing monitoring is built to prevent.
FAQ
Do accessibility overlay widgets actually protect us from lawsuits?
The evidence says no: sites using overlays are sued at a higher rate than sites without them, no court has accepted an overlay as evidence of compliance, and the FTC fined one overlay provider $1 million for misrepresenting its product as guaranteeing compliance.
Is a one-time audit enough?
A one-time audit tells you where you stand today; it says nothing about the page you publish next month. Most of our engagements move into ongoing monitoring for exactly that reason.
Do you work with sites built on Adobe Experience Manager?
Yes. As an Adobe partner, we bring both AEM platform depth and accessibility remediation expertise together, which matters since accessibility fixes often touch custom AEM components.
What WCAG level should we target?
Most legal and regulatory standards reference WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 AA; we’ll confirm the right target based on your industry and risk profile.
Why Trellist
We remediate real code-level issues with real assistive technology testing, and we bring the AEM and broader platform engineering depth to actually fix what we find, not just report on it.
