The challenge
A leading private bank wanted a clearer picture of life as a premium cardholder. Its teams were shaping product innovation, experience design, and communication strategy for the premium portfolio, and they needed to know what actually keeps these customers loyal.
Premium cardholders vary by age, gender, and city. Many carry more than one card, and they use each card differently on an ordinary day than on a special occasion. Surveys could report preferences, but the bank needed the reasons behind them.
What we did
The bank partnered with Quals.ai to run AI-moderated qualitative research at a scale that traditional interviews rarely reach.
- Talked to 100+ cardholders. Quals.ai conducted more than 100 AI-moderated interviews with premium cardholders across a range of age groups, genders, and metro locations.
- Mapped the whole journey. The research followed cardholders through acquisition, onboarding, everyday usage, rewards redemption, and support.
- Studied how cards get used. Interviews explored daily, weekly, and special-occasion spending, and what prompts a cardholder to switch cards.
- Unpacked multi-card behavior. The study identified what drives card preference and why many customers spread their spending across several cards, segment by segment.
- Connected trust to loyalty. It showed how brand perception, trust, and the quality of the digital experience shape premium loyalty over the long term.
