The Client
Majestic Athletic, the official uniform supplier of Major League Baseball (MLB), is a subsidiary of VF Imagewear, Inc and a leading licensed athletic apparel manufacturer. Majestic jerseys are sold nationwide, in stadiums, sporting goods stores and on line. Majestic's Authentic apparel line is featured in all 2,430 games of the Major League season.
The Need
In an effort to increase brand awareness among both casual and dedicated baseball fans, Majestic realized the necessity of an online presence. This experience would need to tell a captivating story and portray Majestic within the fabric of baseball. Of course, this site would also need to optimize merchandise sales.
The Approach
At the site's center, Trellist designed "Majestic Park," a vibrant, interactive experience that encourages exploration as users use their mouse to "move" around an immense baseball environment. The Park communicates that from the first pitch of the grapefruit league to the final pitch of the World Series, "If it happens in baseball, it happens in Majestic." Users can purchase merchandise, including personalized jerseys; tour their team's "locker room"; examine their favorite players' jerseys, and download wallpapers and IM icons. Becoming a "clubhouse VIP" registers users for contests and creates an opt-in record for future communication.
The Result
Custom photography and digital illustration were combined within an animated Flash interface to bring Majestic Park to life. The technical design encompasses enterprise level application development, a full-featured content management system (CMS), search engine optimization (SEO), robust analytics and seamless integration with a state of the art eCommerce platform.
